Harvest Reaper holds a ' Class V vessel operating in Category C Waters (Tidal estuaries ……)' licence issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
The vessel carries a maximum of 30 passengers with 2 crew, one of whom must hold an MCA Boatmaster Licence “Tier 1 Level 2”.
A full set of safety equipment as specified by the MCA is on-board, including; a 35 man Open Reversible Life-raft, life jackets for all passengers and crew, flares, fire extinguishers, marine radio, automatic bilge pumps etc. and procedures for the safe operation and handling of passengers.
The MCA survey the South Sands Ferry both out of the water and for her running trials as well as auditing the “Domestic Ship Safety Management System”.
Harvest Reaper also holds a local SHDC license.
The South Sands Ferry is also able to run under her local SHDC license to carry 12 passengers within the harbour.
